Before launching the first location, Rise Nation’s founder approached Cactus to help envision an interactive environment that would up the ante on group fitness rooms. What we developed was nothing short of a sensation. The interactive lighting installation at the Rise Nation flagship in West Hollywood became not only the template for the next dozen Rise Nation locations, it also made waves across the industry with many competitors following suit. Then in 2018, after a major fundraise and on the cusp of national expansion, Rise Nation came back to Cactus to up the ante again.
Cactus overhauled the brand, the studio architecture, and the interactive ceiling technology to ready the company for accelerated growth. We wanted to ensure that anyone who encountered the brand — from unfamiliar passersby on the street to loyalists who had been climbing with RN from day one — would get a sense of the company’s unique culture. We focused on conveying the combination of science and rigor with the edgy rebelliousness that epitomizes Rise Nation. In addition to new brand marks, copy, swag, and art we developed a new unified architectural palette for the gyms and, perhaps most importantly, an all-new ceiling lighting technology that wows every single person who enters one of the Rise Nation workout rooms. By Integrating these three work streams (brand, architecture, and tech) Cactus developed a new template for Rise Nation to use as it expands and also pushed Rise Nation way out ahead of the competition in terms of the environmental elements that support the high-intensity workout.
