Description
We are looking for a VP Client Partnerships to own and expand our most important client relationships at a pivotal moment in our evolution. This is a newly created role focused on deepening long-term partnerships, identifying expansion opportunities within existing accounts, and ensuring Cactus delivers exceptional value across every engagement.
This is a foundational role at a pivotal moment. You will work directly with the CEO to:
- Shape how we build, grow, and sustain our most important client relationships across the merged platform
- Define what senior client partnership leadership looks like as we scale
- Help activate the full value of our strategy-to-implementation model in the market
- Play a central role in transforming how healthcare organizations imagine and deliver what's next
‍
Responsibilities
Own and Deepen Client Relationships
- Act as the primary senior point of contact for assigned clients, owning relationships at the executive level across multiple stakeholders and business units
- Develop a deep understanding of each client’s organization, priorities, constraints, and healthcare-specific regulatory and operational realities
- Anticipate client needs before they’re articulated, positioning Cactus as a long-term strategic partner rather than a reactive vendor
- Ensure a consistently high-quality client experience across all engagements, with accountability for trust, impact, and continuity
Expand the Client Ecosystem
- Identify and pursue opportunities to expand Cactus’ work into new teams, functions, and business units within existing healthcare clients
- Proactively shape and sell new scopes of work aligned to client goals, organizational priorities, and Cactus’ interdisciplinary capabilities
- Partner closely with the CEO and Business Development to define and execute account growth strategies, including pipeline visibility and prioritization
- Lead or contribute to renewal conversations, extensions, and upsell opportunities, with accountability for sustained account growth
Shape and Launch New Work
- Translate complex client challenges into clear, compelling scopes of work and statements of engagement
- Collaborate with delivery teams to design solutions that are both impactful for the client and operationally sound for Cactus
- Lead or support pricing and commercial conversations in partnership with the CEO, balancing client value, risk, and long-term sustainability
Lead Through Influence
- Serve as the internal advocate for the client, aligning project teams, operations, and leadership around shared goals
- Work closely with Project Management, Operations, and Delivery leads to ensure smooth execution and resourcing
- Maintain visibility into project health, risks, and opportunities — stepping in early when course correction is needed
- Lead without formal authority, influencing outcomes through clarity, trust, and strong relationships
- Act as a stabilizing senior presence across engagements, helping teams navigate complexity, ambiguity, and change within healthcare environments
Help Build the Future of the Role
- Contribute to defining how senior account leadership works at Cactus — including tools, processes, and best practices
- Provide perspective to leadership on patterns across clients, opportunities for growth, and areas for improvement
- Over time, help inform how this function may scale as the organization grows
‍
Qualities
- You think in ecosystems, not projects
- You’re energized by building long-term partnerships, not managing large teams
- You balance client advocacy with internal realities and business health
- You’re comfortable operating independently with senior-level visibility
- You’re excited by the opportunity to help define a role from the ground up
Qualifications
- Healthcare experience is required; candidates must have prior experience partnering with healthcare organizations in a client-facing, strategic role
- 12–18 years of experience, including senior-level ownership of complex healthcare client relationships in an agency, consultancy, or professional services environment
- Proven track record of growing existing client relationships and expanding work across multiple stakeholders or business units
- Strong strategic instincts — able to connect client goals to meaningful solutions
- Comfort owning commercial conversations, including scoping, pricing, and negotiating new work
- Experience working cross-functionally with delivery, operations, and business development teams
- Executive-level communication skills, with the ability to build trust and credibility with senior client leaders
- Highly organized, proactive, and comfortable operating with ambiguity
Compensation & Equal Opportunity
We offer a competitive, performance-oriented compensation package designed to reward impact and growth. The role includes a base salary of approximately $180,000 - $220,000, with a performance-based variable component, along with additional benefits, bonuses, and incentives. Final compensation will be determined based on experience, skills, and overall fit for the role.
